What is The Baker?

The Baker is a baking companion app for bread, sourdough, pizza, pastries, and cakes. It includes recipes, baking calculators, timers, learning content, and optional premium features.

What platforms is The Baker available on?

The Baker is available on Android and iOS.

Where can I download The Baker?

  • Android: Google Play
  • For iPhone and iPad, search for The Baker on the Apple App Store.

Does The Baker work offline?

Yes. Built-in recipes, calculators, timers, and local settings work offline. Features like sign-in, cloud sync, purchase validation, and account deletion require an internet connection.

Are there free-tier limits?

Yes. Free users can currently create up to 5 custom recipes and use 1 free web recipe import.

What are Expansion Packs?

Expansion Packs are one-time purchases that unlock additional premium content.

Current packs include:

  • Pizza Pack
  • Sourdough Breads Pack

Can I create my own recipes?

Yes. You can create custom recipes in the app. Free users are limited to 5 custom recipes. PRO users get unlimited custom recipes.

Can I import recipes from the web?

Yes. The Baker supports importing recipes from HTTPS recipe URLs. Free users get 1 free import. PRO users get unlimited imports.

Can I share recipes?

Yes. The app supports recipe sharing, including recipe-card sharing and recipe import links.

What is Guided Baking?

Guided Baking walks you through recipe stages step by step, with timing support built into the baking flow.

Account

Do I need an account to use The Baker?

No. You can use the app without creating an account. An account is useful for features like cloud sync and purchase management.

How do I sign in?

The app currently supports:

  • Email and password
  • Google Sign-In
  • Sign in with Apple

Do I need to verify my email?

If you sign up with email and password, you may be asked to verify your email. Social sign-in users usually do not need a separate email verification step.

What does cloud sync do?

Cloud sync backs up eligible user data to Firebase so it can be used across devices. Cloud sync is a PRO feature.

Purchases and Billing

What kinds of purchases are available?

  • PRO Monthly
  • PRO Annual
  • One-time Expansion Pack purchases

How do I restore purchases?

Try the following:

  1. Make sure you are using the same store account used for the original purchase
  2. Make sure you are signed in to The Baker if your entitlement needs account syncing
  3. Open the purchase screen and tap Restore Purchases
  4. Make sure you are online and wait a moment for validation and sync

My purchase is not showing up. What should I do?

Try these steps:

  1. Make sure you are online
  2. Restart the app
  3. Use Restore Purchases
  4. Confirm you are using the same App Store or Play Store account as the original purchase
  5. If it still does not appear, contact support with your order details and device information

Can I redeem purchase codes?

Yes. The purchase UI includes a Redeem Code entry point.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are usually handled by the platform store that processed the purchase. Start with Google Play or the Apple App Store refund flow. If you still need help, contact support.

Privacy and Data

What data does The Baker collect?

  • Account information for signed-in users
  • Sync data for eligible PRO features
  • Anonymous crash diagnostics
  • Anonymous performance diagnostics
  • Technical security and device attestation data used for backend protection

Is my data stored locally or in the cloud?

Both. Most core usage data can stay on your device, while account-linked and sync-enabled data can be stored in Firebase.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Go to Settings -> Privacy Settings -> Export My Data to export your recipes and settings as JSON.

How do I delete my account and data?

Go to Settings -> Privacy Settings -> Delete Account.

This process is designed to:

  1. Delete your authentication record
  2. Purge associated cloud data
  3. Wipe local app data as part of the reset flow

This action is intended to be permanent and irreversible.

Does The Baker support GDPR-style deletion?

Yes. The Baker supports account deletion and associated cloud data purge.

Can I disable crash reporting and performance monitoring?

Yes. The app includes settings for crash reporting and performance monitoring.

Troubleshooting

The app crashes or does not load.

  1. Make sure you are on the latest app version
  2. Fully close and reopen the app
  3. Restart your device
  4. If the issue continues, contact support and include your device model, OS version, app version, and steps to reproduce

Timers or reminders are not firing.

Check that:

  1. Notifications are enabled
  2. Battery or background restrictions are not blocking the app
  3. On Android, exact alarm permission is enabled if needed

I cannot sign in.

Check that:

  1. You have internet access
  2. Your selected sign-in method is working on the device
  3. You are using the correct account
  4. If using email and password, verify your email if prompted

Recipe import is failing.

Common causes include:

  • The URL is not HTTPS
  • The source page does not expose recipe data in a format the app can parse
  • The page is too large or inaccessible
  • The free import limit has already been used

Sync is not working across devices.

Check that:

  1. You have PRO
  2. You are signed in to the same account on both devices
  3. Both devices are online
