How we protect your data in The Baker mobile app.
1. Introduction
The Baker ("we", "our", or "us") values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use The Baker mobile app on iOS and Android.
The Baker is a baking companion app for recipes, dough calculators, timers, baking tools, learning content, and optional cloud synchronization.
2. Information We Collect and Use
2.1 Account Information
You may use some parts of The Baker without creating an account.
If you create an account or sign in using Google or Apple, we collect limited account information needed to provide sign-in, account management, purchase restoration, and cloud synchronization features.
This may include:
- Email address.
- Display name, if provided by the sign-in provider.
- Profile photo, if provided by the sign-in provider and supported in the app.
- Account identifier.
We use this information only to operate your account and provide account-based app features.
2.2 Recipes, Settings, and Cloud Sync
The Baker may store recipe data, app settings, and baking-related preferences on your device.
If you use Cloud Sync, your private app data may also be stored securely in the cloud so it can be synced across your devices and restored when needed.
Cloud Sync data may include:
- Custom recipes.
- Recipe collections.
- Recipe settings.
- App preferences.
- Baking-related settings and notes.
Your private recipe data is used to provide app functionality. We do not sell your recipe data, and we do not use your recipe content for advertising.
2.3 Purchases and Subscriptions
If you purchase a subscription, unlock PRO features, or buy optional content, purchase information may be used to activate paid features, restore purchases, prevent fraud, and provide support.
Payments are handled by Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
2.4 Sharing Features
The Baker includes sharing features that let you share recipe information using your device’s built-in sharing options.
When you choose to share a recipe, the app may generate a recipe card, text, or share link locally on your device.
Recipe share links are created locally by including the selected recipe data inside the link itself. We do not upload shared recipe content to our servers for the purpose of sharing.
You control where shared content is sent, such as messaging apps, email, social apps, or other services installed on your device.
2.5 Usage Data and Diagnostics
The Baker may collect limited app usage and diagnostic information to help us improve the app, fix bugs, and understand which features are useful.
This may include:
- App interactions, such as completing onboarding or visiting key screens.
- Crash reports.
- Performance information.
- App version.
- Device type and operating system version.
We do not use usage or diagnostic data to collect your custom recipes, personal files, or private recipe content.
Where required, usage analytics are only collected with your consent. You can manage this in the app under:
Settings > Privacy > Share Usage Data
Diagnostic or crash reporting controls may also be available in the app settings where supported.
2.6 Security and Abuse Prevention
We use security and integrity checks to help protect the app, user accounts, and our backend services from fraud, abuse, automated traffic, and unauthorized access.
These checks may process technical information such as app, device, or security verification signals. This information is used only for security, fraud prevention, abuse prevention, and service protection.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide and maintain The Baker.
- Authenticate users.
- Enable Cloud Sync.
- Save and restore app data.
- Provide subscriptions, PRO features, and purchased content.
- Improve app stability and performance.
- Understand feature usage when analytics are enabled.
- Fix bugs and crashes.
- Protect the app and backend services from abuse or unauthorized access.
- Respond to support requests.
- Comply with legal, security, platform, and operational requirements.
4. Third-Party Services
The Baker uses trusted third-party services to operate, secure, and improve the app.
These services may include platform and cloud services from Apple, Google, and Firebase.
They may be used for:
- Sign-in and authentication.
- Cloud data synchronization.

These services process information only as needed to provide app functionality, maintain purchases, protect the service, improve reliability, or support optional analytics.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with third-party services for targeted advertising.

6. Data Retention
We keep account and cloud sync data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the app’s features.
If you delete your account, your active account data and cloud sync data are deleted from our production systems as described below.
Some limited information may be retained where necessary for legal, security, fraud prevention, accounting, platform compliance, or dispute resolution purposes.
Deleted data may also remain temporarily in backups, logs, or recovery systems until those systems expire according to their retention schedules. Backup data is not used for normal app functionality.
7. Account and Data Deletion
You can delete your account and associated app data in the app under:
Settings > Privacy > Delete Account
When you delete your account:
- Your account is deleted or scheduled for deletion.
- Your cloud sync data is deleted from active production systems.
- Your private recipe collections, profile data, app settings, and user-associated app records are deleted where technically possible.
- Local app data, caches, settings, and secure storage may be cleared from your device.
- You are signed out of the app.
Account deletion is irreversible. After deletion, we cannot restore your account data.
Some information may remain temporarily in backups, logs, or recovery systems until they expire. Some purchase or transaction records may also remain where required by Apple, Google, legal, accounting, fraud prevention, or platform compliance requirements.

8. Your Privacy Choices
You can manage available privacy options in the app under:
Settings > Privacy
Depending on your app version and platform, these options may include:

You can manage subscriptions through your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Baker is not directed to children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe that a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete the information.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect user data.
These may include secure communication, authentication controls, backend access controls, app integrity checks, abuse prevention tools, and secure deletion workflows.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information using appropriate safeguards.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
When we make changes, we will update the Effective Date. If changes are material, we may notify users through the app, website, store listing, or another appropriate method.
